Why do you ask? There are a couple of items that are looking weirdly high, but I think everything is fine otherwise.

Well, my newest item (www.archive.org/details/plague010) doesn't show a counter at all, even though it has been downloaded multiple times from different computers. I checked a couple other releases (my own and others) and found that their counters didn't go up when I downloaded them either (after refreshing the page, etc.).

(The "weirdly high" releases are both artists that appeared on an Oddio Overplay compilation, so they got some extra attention.)

same problem here, counters haven't changed on all my submitted items (search: "psicotropicodelia" or "alienaqtor") for 4-5 days, and I know all of them are having nice access (the page where they are posted gotg a real cool number of hits over the last week...)

Is it any general bug or a temporary problem on archive.org?

Thanks in advance!

Haha,

OK, so apparently there's a problem with the download counter - I wasn't aware! I'm gonna ping QA about it, and we'll see if someone can fix it!

Simon.

I'm having the same trouble with my most recent release or two.

I have a theory about what causes some counts to appear suspiciously high. Since downloading the thumbnail jpeg counts as a hit, it's feasible to do a webpage tiling the thumbnail, loading of which could potentially count as dozens of hits, and if it is repeatedly refreshed (just set a refresh metatag and let it run for a couple hours), the numbers may go up by tens of thousands a day.

Hey guys,

The Archive admins say:

"Download counts on collection pages are updated on mondays. The download counts on item detail pages are updated nightly."

Tell me/us if you think it's not being updated nightly on the details page still.

s!

Neither of my uploads have updated on the details page for at least at week.

Appears there is no activity at all. Here's one, there was daily activity until about a week ago.

I'll also confirm, no nightly updates, my latest hasn't posted a single download and has been up for several days.

they definitely have not been updated at all on my end. check nt104 for instance which has stalled at 56 downloads since last week's crash. (notype.com's site statistics indicate that it has been downloaded a few times since, so this 56 downloads figure is definitely inaccurate.)

aha! that explains an incredible amount. i have a number of releases which are getting astronomically high download figures. it's just because of the myspace spamming i'm doing using the images which are obviously getting refreshed quite regularly - it's not really being listened to that many times. hmmm, and i thought i was doing something right! :( a more realistic counter would be excellent.

sorry, engr. team confirms it is not working.
it will get "back updated" as soon as we can get it
working again (so no downloads will be lost).

hopefully end of week?
